Pat Prosey hugs her “daughter” C.C. while surrounded by her collection of over 5,000 Cabbage Patch Kids. She and her husband, Joe, keep them in over 6,000 feet of temperature-controlled space at their home in Leonardtown, Md. Watch the Proseys on tonight’s premiere episode of TLC’s “My Crazy Obsession, but first, read our interview:

You hang out with other Cabbage Patch enthusiasts. What’s that scene like?Pat: If you’re going to be a grown person and carry around a Cabbage Patch Kid, you have to be a likeable person. Joe: We’ve never met a bad person in Cabbage Patch.Pat: Not other collectors. Of course, there’s been negativity, if we’re somewhere with Kevin. There will be people who will say, and we’ve had it said before, “My God, look at these people. They’re crazy. Look at all the money they’ve got tied up. Couldn’t they do something better?” Well, maybe I could have. We worked for a living. We have a roof over our head, food in our mouths. My daughter never wanted for anything. I’m not hurting anyone, I’m not doing anything illegal, and I‘m having fun.

Here be the type of folk we have in good ol’ Southern Maryland. Tempted to watch this.
